Why join us

We’re a growing accounting firm that cares deeply about two things: exceptional quality of work and clients who love working with us. We don’t coast. We think critically, we improve continuously, and we value people who have a voice and use it. If you enjoy rolling up your sleeves to solve problems, collaborating with a small team, and building smarter systems, you’ll feel at home here.

About The Gig:

We’re looking for an experienced Accounting Technician who is already strong in Canadian bookkeeping, CRA reviews, and T1/T2 preparation. You won’t need us to teach you the work, you’ll bring that expertise. We’ll train you on our systems and processes so you can help us make them even better.

You will:

  • Own day-to-day bookkeeping for multiple small business clients (accruals, AR/AP, bank/credit card reconciliations, monthly closes).
  • Prepare and file T1 returns and prepare T2 returns for filing with a quality-first mindset; ensure compliance and defend positions when needed.
  • Handle CRA correspondence/reviews end-to-end: assemble support, draft responses, track deadlines, and communicate with clients.
  • Prepare working papers and year-end files that other pros can follow easily.
  • Communicate directly with clients (email, phone, occasional in-person) to clarify issues, explain results, and set expectations.
  • Identify process gaps and propose improvements—templates, checklists, automations, and controls that reduce error and rework.

First 90 days—what success looks like:

  • Master our workflow (workpapers, file naming, review steps, practice management) and hit consistent weekly targets.
  • Clean, review-ready files with clear notes
  • Proactively raise risks and suggest at least 1 tangible process improvement.
  • Earn client trust through clear, kind, timely communication.

What you can expect from us:

  • Proper training, support and leadership.
  • Timely and accurate payment of wages
  • Safe and healthy working environments
  • Full disclosure and explanation of the job responsibilities, company policies and procedures
  • Regular feedback on performance from supervisors or managers
  • Access to the resources you need to perform your work tasks efficiently and properly
  • Credit and acknowledgment for work achievements

Must-haves

  • 2–5+ years in an accounting technician/bookkeeping role serving Canadian small businesses.
  • Hands-on with CRA reviews/audits and drafting response letters with supporting schedules.
  • Proficient preparing T1 and T2 returns
  • Proficient preparing Payroll, sales tax (HST) filings, and year-end support experience.
  • Strong working papers discipline and attention to detail; you balance speed with accuracy.
  • Client-facing confidence: you can ask precise questions, translate accounting into plain language, and follow through.
  • Self-directed and accountable. You take ownership and communicate early.
  • Comfortable with common accounting tech: Sage, QuickBooks Online, Xero, Excel/Google Sheets; ability to learn new tools quickly.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience standardizing processes (checklists, SOPs) and improving close timelines
  • Working knowledge of firm practice tools (e.g., Dext/Hubdoc, Plooto, Wagepoint, Practice/Workflow apps).
